Remember when Microsoft confirmed that Xbox Live users would be compensated for downtime? Well they’ve decided to give away Undertow next Wednesday, January 23rd from 2:00 a.m. PST through to Sunday, January 27th at 11:59 p.m. PST.

While this is a welcome gesture, only allowing people to download the game for a few days is a bit cheeky and there’s no provision for people who already own Undertow. As for the Xbox Live issues themselves, Gamerscore Blog had this to say:

“We’ve implemented several improvements to the service, to help ensure ongoing reliability and performance. As the popularity of Xbox LIVE expands, we’ll continue to closely monitor the service and make adjustments. As always, if you are having any problems, please contact your local support (1-800-4-MYXBOX in North America) so that we can assist you.”
