Rolling Back Prices

News by Chris Lamanna, published on Monday 9th August 2004

ESPN Videogames has announced that this year’s hockey game, NHL 2K5, for all platforms will be available for an unbelievable price of $19.99! If you recall, ESPN made the same change to their football game this year, about one week prior to its official release. NFL 2K5 was released in the U.S. and Canada about two weeks ago. Many gamers thought a price drop meant less resources were used to make the game. Gamers soon came to their senses, and jaws dropped to the floor.

Why did ESPN Videogames make this change? Most likely to beat out their sports rival EA Sports and their Madden series. But other then that, the price drops are still in question. We will just have to speculate what EA’s counter move will be.
