Gamespot’s Jeff Gerstmann ‘let go’

Arguably Gamespot’s most recognised staff member, Jeff Gertsmann has been let go from the popular videogame site for apparently giving Xbox 360 title Kane and Lynch a lower than expected review score .
Unfortunately, unless Jeff himself says something (which seems unlikely), we will never truly know the reasons for his dismissal. Suffice to say, if the Kane and Lynch review is the reason behind this, it’s a crying shame that someone should be fired for giving their opinion on a videogame.
Rest assured, you will never see a member of Thunderboltgames released for a review they publish. This is very bad publicity for Gamespot, and it’s got to make you wonder how many times they’ve decided against giving an honest review score to keep publishers happy.
Even rival websites such as 1up have protested outside Gamespot headquarters in support of Jeff Gertsmann, many members of Gamespot have cancelled their subscriptions to the site, and thousands have submitted very low reader reviews for Kane and Lynch, as an act of spite. It’s gotten to the point where Gamespot have stopped taking reader reviews for the game.
We at Thunderboltgames would like to wish Jeff Gertsmann the best of luck in all his future endeavours.
