Games are evil. Ban them.

Xbox news by on 19th November 2003

According to Australian MP Paul Gibson, Project Gotham Racing 2 “glorifies speed and power” (oh no, not power!) and should be banned. Mr Gibson had more to say: “This game sends out the wrong message to young people. It is actually glorifying speed and power. It is clearly an inappropriate depiction of speed behaviour. If I had my way I would ban it. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Games like this are undoing a lot of the effort authorities are putting into road safety.”

Gibson is head of Australia’s road safety watchdog, which explains his interest. After realising that Sydney was one of the cities digitally mapped for the game, he was prompted into action and he intends to lobby the Office of Film and Literature Classification until they do something about it.

So in light of this news, our predicted release calendar for 2005 now includes Rockstar’s upcoming epic, Grand Road Safety: Look Both Ways. Screenshots are on the way.
