EA reveals new boxing title

News by Terence Gage, published on Friday 1st February 2008

Electronic Arts has revealed a new boxing title named FaceBreaker is in development at their EA Canada studio.

Coming to PS3, 360 and Wii, the game adopts a distinct cartoon-esque visual style, along the lines of Team Fortress 2, FIFA Street 3 or the recently revealed new Battlefield title. It will feature “real-time facial deformation” where you can actually break your opponent’s face, however EA presumably hope to circumnavigate bad press through the cartoon stylings. No release date has been hinted at yet, although a release no earlier than Winter ‘08 seems likely.

It has been around three years since EA released their last boxing title, Fight Night: Round 3, which was developed by the now-defunct EA Chicago studio. Does this mean there won’t be any more Fight Night games? We’ll let you know once we do.

So, are you looking forward to this game? What do you think of this news? Do you think EA are ripping off 2002 release Black & Bruised? Why not
