Take 2 have released six new screenshots of Army Men: Sarge’s War, a game that disappeared a year or two ago along with its developer/publisher, 3DO. The game was originally sceduled for release in March 2003 on GameCube, but Take 2’s version will be released on Xbox, PC and PS2 this July. Talk about a comeback.

No new details have been released apart from the screenshots, so we have to assume that the original plot still stands: The player will play as Sarge, a one man army, against the whole of the Tan Army, under the leadership of Colonel Malice. All of the Heroes have been wiped out in a brutal Tan ambush and the Tan have found a new weapon of mass destruction that can reduce a platoon of soldiers into a mass of melted plastic. Sarge must go renegade and avenge the death of his fallen heroes, to take his revenge on the Tan Army and destroy Colonel Malice.
