Default NHL 10 Vs. NHL 2K10

Poor choices in cover athletes, in my opinion. No players from the Penguins, whom have been noted as "the most marketable team in hockey" and have won the Stanley Cup?! What does it take?

Showboating, perhaps.

I have no qualms about EA's pick this year. Although the Black Hawks probably were prematurely rooted out of the playoffs, they probably carried the best comeback story in the NHL, for the 08-09 season. And Patrick Kane's a decent cover athlete (not the most popular athlete, but still exceptionally gifted, with a bright future in store for him.

Okay, if I had to come up with one criticsm, I might say the cover looks exactly like last year's, which looked just like the year before that. Which brings me to a new subject: NHL 11's prospective cover art. I'll gladly enter my submission, as seen below:

I tried playing NHL 09, had no idea what was going on.

There's offside in Ice Hockey!?

Well you can't just have players hanging out past the opponent's blue line and the pace of the game's already ridiculous enough that double-blue line passing would break the sport. The whole game would be back-and-forth, dumping from the defensive side of the ice into the opponent's without offside. All the lines aren't for decoration.

I don't know how Soccer works, but I'd imagine there are only minor differences in the rules. Will be going to my first Professional Soccer game this weekend, by the way. Excited about that, although I still think our uniforms look like hell.

Is Seattle playable in FIFA 09, by the way?

Edit: FIFA 10*

Do you know how the soccer offside rule works?

And Seattle are playable every year in FIFA, MLS is fully covered. Isn't that the team that has Freddie Ljungberg and someone else....possibly Edgar Davids?

EDIT- And about the kit, that is disgusting.

Well I think this is the first year for our current MLS set-up (Sounders FC). I think we're playing on a bit of a higher level now, whereas we used to be even with Portland's team, whatever division they're in. But I think this new team's a completely different entity, just with the same name. I don't even know what FC means. >_<

And yes, we have Ljungberg. He refuses to play in anything but his boxers though. Very confusing for his teammates and fans.

Right lad lets get you started.

It's not a uniform it's a kit.

FC stands for Football Club.

anything else you want/need to know?

I've just had a look at the Seattle team and it seems Kasey Keller was the other player I knew. I think Edgar Davids does play in the league somewhere though.

Anyway, are you going to see them against Chelsea Calvin?

Yeah, it's against Chelsea, this Saturday. Should be a pretty good game.

---

From what we've seen so far, the crowd in NHL 10 looks brilliant. I had no idea NHL 09 won "twelve sports game of the year" awards. I wish Thunderbolt were counted in these matters - even if we went with FIFA every year (and were gravely mistaken). Anyway, if the crowd could look anything like it does in videos shown thus far, 10 could be the next big step forward for hockey games.
