    Thunderbolt Podcast

I've been kinda interested in going through with the idea on a podcast with members on here. Serious/semi-serious and talk about the latest gaming news.

A good start for topics (for example) could be something like:

    - E3
    - The 10 dollar scheme
    - Awesome forum posts
    - general game news
    - strange or oddities within the gaming world

It's basically just an idea for to mess around with. Would anyone be interested in it?

The first podcast: a one time thing with me and a friend who went to PAX
The second podcast: Patrick wanted to make a 2 hour epic every week and then Operation Gay Space Nazi saw him leave Thunderbolt
The third podcast: has been proposed at least three times now :D

I listen to a number of podcasts and I think having our own is a viable idea.

However, creating a successful podcast that people want to listen to is really hard. First of all, you need someone who is both committed to and skilled at organising and producing the podcast on a regular basis. Doing this would take a lot of time, so that person would have to cut back on writing, or be brought in especially as a podcaster.

With any podcast, I would want to hear at least one pilot episode and see some kind of plan before endorsing it.

I was pretty serious about setting something up last year and have always been interested in radio. Took a class on it this fall and while I'm terrible at it, it's something I can admire when people do it well. But I don't know who would listen. The ones Bart did with Pat were too good for nobody to be listening but too long for anyone not interested in Thunderbolt to stick it out for, in my opinion.

You mean the one I did with Pat

It was difficult for Pat and I to get on the same page since I wanted to go shorter and he liked the longer format. The biggest problem became getting it done each and every week and having something new to talk about. As a GameFly subscriber and regular gaming animal Pat always had something new that he'd been playing each and every week, while I was playing any manner of random games for weeks on end, not the most exciting topics.

If a new podcast emerges there needs to be a lot of prep work up front. I think ideally you need at least three people legitimately committed to it as well. Not necessarily three hosts - although it might be nice - but an alternate for those times someone can't record, or someone just doesn't have anything to really discuss on a given week.

Anyway, I'm all for someone trying to carry a new podcast torch and I'd be willing to help out in some capacity. Whether that be on the air or planning stages. Can't help with the actual production, don't really know jack about sound :D

Then I guess, who would be interested in co-hosting with me for starters?

My first objective is just to get some sort of format down, not really interested in gathering listeners from outside the forum until that is settled.

I reckon I'd be up for talking in a segment or two of the podcast - but not as a co-host, sorry. I don't think I have enough knowledge of the industry on the whole to produce interesting and consistent talk.

They will never know more than the name.

It will be Thunderbolt's most treasured enigma.

Hell if noone steps up to the plate to be the co-host I guess I'll give it a shot. Getting this organised ready for the summer holiday would be ideal.

Sounds pretty cool, do you have skype? If not, get it and add silphonica, then we'll go from there. IF anyone else is interested do the same.
