Best action rpgs you mean. Wheres the horror? and with the right weapons you are also really powerful. I understand that the game is dark and you really dont want to lose your xp but the game isnt exactly chilling or anything.

Probably the scariest thing in the game is when you get invaded while you are working hard progressing through a level. But really thats more of an annoyance than anything.

Maybe my definition of survival horror is different. When I think of games that really gave me the chills its usually Clock Tower, RE1 and Silent hill 1 and 2. What we have these days dosnt really feel like those games at all, you dont get the chills and jumps. Like I said before a lot of that is due to being weak which isn't a problem in Darksouls, you aren't weak you just need to time things well.

I also thought the Fatal Frame games were actually kinda scary. Having to actually look at a ghost with a camera or it will kill you is kind of a crazy concept. Another game that hasnt done so well this gen though :/.

I've just always used 'survival horror' for most horror games. I haven't really been interested in if games get the survival part right for a while. I think that was the main thing initially but I'm not that interested in every horror game being that anymore.

Eternal Darkness is probably my favorite horror game. I felt like we moved past the survival part with that & RE4. Maybe someone just needs to do it well again, though.

Fully agree on Fatal Frame. Second one scared the hell out of me first time I played. Had to turn the console off and walk away. Only time a game's genuinely made me too afraid to actually play it.

Fear 1 scared the hell out of me to even though the little girl didn't do much. I still remember the part when you are in an elevator and all a sudden the power goes out. Was like oh shit shes in here I can sense it. Then the lights blink AHHHH!

I wish more people got to experience Amnesia though. Gotta be the best horror game this generation. Really hope the sequel does it justice.

lol not as scary as i remember, i swear i shit myself.

I've made this point before I'm sure, but I think the D-Souls games are the most effective games at creating genuine terror and dread these days. I know they're action games with heavy RPG mechanics, but it reminds me of the old Silent Hill games in a way - there are often enemies you seriously do not want to mess with. When I was playing Demon's Souls I'd be terrified when I stumbled on a certain enemy type when I was low on health; I'd turn tail and book it back to safety. The Souls games build tension and fear because there is always the danger of dying, and in those games, dying really means something.

I think that's the problem with modern horror games in general - I haven't played Amnesia. Enemies are too stupid and too weak to actually create any believable fear. Left 4 Dead is a good game to look at that gets it right, while not a traditional survival horror title, that is definitely a game that gets your blood pumping and genuinely requires the player to survive.

I guess I just dont get that feeling. To me it just felt like a well done rpg where there are monsters that actually to high in level and you would need to prepare a bit more before giving them a go. I never left an area because I was scared.. was more of a feeling that I would be dumb to attempt it anyways.
Fear 2 wasnt very good and Fear 3 looked far worse. Matter a fact I would argue that Fear 1 on pc was the only good Fear :/

I thought Fear 2 was quite decent, if unspectacular. But thanks :)

In regards to the FEAR series, the second one is my favorite. Not necessarily scary, I just love shooting fools in slow motion. I blame Max Payne on starting that one.

Hated Eternal Darkness. Clever idea, just didn't like the execution of it. Started out interesting, got boring. Really boring.

Who do you think we'll see in it apart from who is visible in the screen shots? I think Crash should be in it seeing as he was pretty much the first mascot character of the playstation brand, they should also put Kevin Butler in it seeing as it doesn't really look like a serious game.

Right, just watched the video for this... Well, was nice of Sony to make a tribute to Smash Bros. :p

Sony characters just don't have a specific identity. They're all over the place. Plenty of great characters taken apart, but it's off-putting seeing them all thrown together somehow.

I'd assume we'll get Drake, Nariko, Ratchet and Jak. I'm hoping we'll see Carmelita Fox, Sir Daniel Fortesque, Blasto, Dr. Nefarious. It'd be sick if they had the Origami Killer :p Tomba! would be a good addition, and I'd like Scarlett Blake to flesh out the female roster.

There was a supposed leaked roster somewhere, I don't remember who was on it though. Based on some comments from SuperBot it seems highly likely that there will be some 3rd party characters, ones that are closely related to the PS family. On that end, I'd expect Crash, Spyro, maybe Snake, a FF character, maybe Tidus or Yuna since Square has that FFX HD coming out sometime, or some bum from Kingdom Hearts.

We'll see. I'm not too excited about it honestly. I've never been a huge Smash fan and none of my friends are either, so I'm not sure if this game is really for me. I'll wait for Power Stone 3.

I've always appreciated the fan service of Smash more than I ever really cared for it as a fighting game but Melee's still great in multi.

Crytek: TimeSplitters 4 not in development, "We spent all of the development budget on buying monkeys." via CVG. :/

    They're lying.

I'm hyped for Sony Smash Bros. Think Jak's a foregone conclusion.

I never got Smash Brothers either. Played it all the time at a friend's house but I didn't find it much fun.
