there's irony, you too are 'officially' too young to play it?!?! Censorship laws are crazy...

I think the odds of game checking your age is minimal, but you do never know :)

how much were game charging? I preordered mine from play.com, like i told you all last week :)

www.play.com

But i'm worried, they haven't even debited my account yet so the odds on getting this on friday are slim.

:(

quite a few guys on pesfan buy from play, but they post the stuff on friday, meaning you will have to wait till saturday or even monday to get your stuff.

iv got a game reward card which is why i order from them alot. i get tons of money off all the time- when the next lot of vouchers come thru iv got about £50. plus the games are a fiver less when you pre-order, and you get double points.

its 39.99 on there, but iv ordered alot of stuff from them, and its gets here when its released- with the exception of pes2 which arrived on the saturday instead of friday.

they sent me an email saying its been posted, so it looks like iv got it (fingers crossed)

Ah well, i've got loads of stuff on. My pints size Kylie lookalike girlfriend came home last night after working in portsmouth for a week or so, so i didn't even touch a game pad.

Tonight i've got my band coming over to watch jap zombie movie, then tomorrow i'm out in angel for a birthday, saturday i'm house hunting, sunday i'm having a day of rest - including off to see harry potter, monday night is free (Jo's back to portsmouth for a couple of days)

So monday night could be vice night.

Pleased to see the secret packages faqs are already appearing on gamefaqs though!

Phil

Yeah, but you have to take all of the costs behind the game into account - wages for staff, profit, hardware, discs, etc.

HENDRYBERG

well im thinking of starting up a company making games so obviously if it works out then ill be dead against piracy lol but for now f it!!!!

Yeah! I know about 5 or 6 guys that have studyed programing! So we just need to discuss setting it up! I dont know anything about programming though! So im purely the money man! Hopefully we can do what the codemasters did! But these days itll be tough!!!

You could be the producer (the manager) or an artist. Well good luck with it anyway.

Video game companies - are you sure? If i were you i'd rush out and buy the latest copy of edge magazine - it talks about the financial suicide involved in being in the game industry, plus it plots all the underhand dealings that go with it. Because of the overheads involved, you need a rediculous amount of overhead money to stay afloat, most *small* companies don't.

That's before you even start talking about coder's salaries. Team Soho, who everyone'll know from 'The Getaway', have a small team of 6 or 7 i think, and the programmers only earn in the late 20s (27, maybe 28,000 a year?). For a london based code specialist, that is dreadful - even I earn more than that and i work for a local authority.

Seriously, video games are controlled by big business, who sign all the big distribution deals, decide where and when to market the games and who gets all the cash at the end of it. Small companies that don't accept the massive overheads won't get a distributor or a publisher - they tend to rub each others backs. No, i think these days, man, the only way to get into games coding is to join an established firm and accept the bad wages.

Unless you've got the next GTA III up your sleeve that is ;)

Oh, and btw, i don't want that to sound like i'm flamming or trolling (i don't believe in all that - which is why i don't go near the gamefaqs board any more?!?!?!?!). This topic is quite close to my chest :(

if you want to code a few simple games for free then check out the free demo disc that you got with the ps2- the program's called yabasic, and its pretty cool for beginners.

if you want some pre-made games then buy psi2 magazine, they have montly downloads to your mem card.

I think Yabasic only came with the first few PS2s - I got mine on Xmas 2000...

There was a time, long ago when James was 16/17. This is hard to comprehend but there we go. I love old threads, sorry :giggle:
