I read the latest news, and perhaps it's a joke (I certinally hope so), but I would be disgusted if it wasn't. Seriously, what the hell would they be thinking if they did that? Now, I do own a nVidia GeForce4 ti 4200, but still, if this starts to happen, then ATI will start gaining exclusive titles as well. WE CAN'T LET THIS HAPPEN. PC's are special because it's a free platform that anyone can develop for and anyone can play any game on. Sure, you may have to do some hardware tinkering to do so, but you know what I mean. If Halflife 2 goes exclusive to nVidia, I'm sure someone will make some drivers or hack it to make it work on ATI cards, but I would still be pissed if they did.

It's not a joke, and I totally agree with you. This is going to suck if it happens.

Game developers developing for a single type of graphics cards is not something new to the PC world

A few years ago this was the case with 3dfx cards and some games only running under Glide or OpenGL.

However these days with advent of DirectX it does seem bloody stupid to reduce the market of your game to one card rather than make it available to the maximum number of people. But Hey! It's their profits :D
