I downloaded and installed the battlefield 1942 single player demo, but when I tried to start it, this message appeared:

What does it mean and how can I solve the problem?

What graphics card are you using m8?

Have you got DirectX 8 installed?

If you've got something standard like a GeForce 2 or above and you've got DX8 try reinstalling DirectX or even reinstalling the demo :D

It's definately graphics related tho!

I have intel extreme graphics with the latest video driver installed. I've got DirectX 9.0 as well.

It's weird because the multiplayer demo works fine, but the single player one doesn't.

You may not get the single player demo working as it is a very early release of the game and very buggy.
The multiplayer demo may work as it can be patched up to version 1.1.
I think its something to do with hardware T+L as your video card is hardware assisted T+L as far as I know.
