I keep getting asked how to get an avatar, so here's a short FAQ:
What is an avatar?
An avatar is a small graphic image below your details in posts.
So, how do I get an avatar then?
Follow these steps:
1. Click on profile at the top of the page.
2. At the bottom of the page you will see the avatar control panel. Click in the "Link to off-site Avatar" box
3. Enter the URL of the location containing the Avatar image you wish to link to.
4. Press submit.
How big can my avatar be?
Its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, a height no greater than 80 pixels and a file size no more than 6KB.
What do you mean by "URL of the location containing the Avatar image"?
This is the location of the image on another server. The image must be located at another site, such as Geocities. Just upload your image onto their server, and type in the URL of that image.
If there is a site with the image already on it e.g. a football team's logo on their site, just right click on it to get the URL and enter that in the box.
