View Full Version : Please help me compile a Thunderbolt FAQ
Since I can't think of anything to write a feature on, I'm going to make a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) for Thunderbolt. Please help me by posting questions and then I'll be able to answer them when I write it.
I've already thought of some:
Why is this site called Thunderbolt?
Is this site Beligian or based in Belgium?
When was this site started?
When is the next version of Thunderbolt coming out?
How do I submit my own content to your site?
Why wasn't my review/news story/preview/feature published?
What do you use to make Thunderbolt?
Where is Thunderbolt hosted?
Can I have a forum for my clan on your site?
Can I upload screenshots onto the site?
How do I contact you?
How do I become a staff member?
Keep 'em coming!
OK, since no-one has anything to add, I'll start writing some of the answers (accurate for version 4.0).
Why is this site called Thunderbolt?
No particular reason, I just thought it was a cool name 8)
Is this site Beligian or based in Belgium?
No. We have a .be domain because it was the shortest and cheapest "thunderbolt" domain. Remember that Thunderbolt is a non-profit website, so we can't afford expensive domains.
When was this site started?
On the 20th of November 2000.
When is the next version of Thunderbolt coming out?
Version 4.5 will be released on the 20th of Feb. 2003
How do I submit my own content to your site?
Just click on 'contribute' and then on one of the three main links on that page.
Why wasn't my review/news story/preview/feature published?
For one or several of many reasons. As the small print says "We reserve the right to censor anything you submit. We reserve the right to refuse to publish anything you submit if we deem it to be offensive, unsuitable, inaccurate, too short, unfair, or just of poor quality. We may not publish your review if it is written in capital letters only. Only one review and one preview per game."
What do you use to make Thunderbolt?
Thunderbolt was designed using Frontpage and Paint Shop Pro 6.
Where is Thunderbolt hosted?
At www.larrytech.biz
Can I have a forum for my clan on your site?
Yes, and for free as well. Just email me at webmaster@thunderbolt.be to find out more.
Can I upload screenshots onto the site?
No, not on the current version. If you submit content, we will find any necessary screenshots.
How do I contact you?
Just click "Philip Morton" on any page or "contact" at the top of the page.
How do I become a staff member?
You have to have one piece of content published to be classed as a contibutor.
How much does it cost to run Thunderbolt?
About £30 per year for the domains.
Why did you make Thunderbolt?
It all started in the Autumn of 2000, when I started to experiment with Microsoft FrontPage Express. I put together a site, and on 20th November 2000, Thunderbolt Version 1 went online.
Are you going to be expanding to cover other media such as music and films?
No, not in the forseeable future. We would rather concentrate on games for now.
What will be in the next version of Thunderbolt?
Version 4.5 will have a search facility, an advanced contributor system, a better admin control panel, a database structure, more screenshots, platform index pages, a staff page and individual Amazon links to products.
OK, I think I might put this on the site now.
good idea - very professional...
