View Full Version : Microsoft to buy Rare? - a good thing?
You've probably seen the main story on Thunderbolt (http://www.thunderboltuk.co.uk), so is Microsoft buying Rare a good thing?[/url]
who'd think the boys that made atic atac are now microsoft stooges...
I'm not a big fan of MS in general, and i'm also not a big fan of the XBox even though i agree it's technically the est console out there. It saddens me greatly that MS have bought RARE but these days only the big software houses can afford to develop games anyway so it's all swings and roundabouts...

i think this is how microsoft will "dominate" the games market-they'll just buy up some good companys and expand from there.
currently they have some good games out- halo, jet set radio, crazy taxi 3 and PGR to name a few.
but by xmas we will have project ego and splinter cell. these should wake people up to buy an xbox.
all microsoft really need is ea to make a few games. sure fifa isnt a load of cop but they make great nfl and nhl games that would go down a treat in the US, and with their new EA BIG range, many titles would appeal to us over the other side of the pond.
i think that by this time next year all consoles will be in first place with hardly anything to seperate them.
people think that xboxlive will wipe the floor with ps2, but sony came out swimming strongly when sega launched their online service, so im not too sure about that statement.
but one thing is for sure- if you've got the dosh for all three, your in for one hell of a time! :D
