Zelda Game Cube bundle

With a package comprised of the original Legend Of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask and a demo of Wind Waker, it sounded almost too good to be true. Now, though, Nintendo of America has inadvertantly confirmed the disc is to be bundled with the GameCube console imminently, with packshot imagery leaking onto the Web.

It seems that this staggeringly overloaded disc will be bundled with the GameCube in a bid to step up sales. this is a generous move, especially following reports that the ‘Cube is actually outselling the Xbox and the PS2 in the US following its recent price cut.

One source is reporting that last week the ‘Cube sold 64,405 units – over 10,000 more than the PS2 (53,854) and nearly 40,000 more than the Xbox (26,290). Well, well, how the worm has turned.

Of course, punters who’ve been enjoying the GameCube for a while now will certainly be wanting to get hold of this little freebie too, but at the moment there’s no word of where we’re going to be able to pick it up.

In fact, there’s no word on a European bundle whatsoever. The official response to the disc story? “Nintendo of Europe has made no announcement regarding a Zelda bonus disc.”

That figures.
