Thunderbolt camping the Call of Duty Experience
Well, I just touched down a few hours ago in Los Angeles to take in the Call of Duty Experience. In the interest of full disclosure, Activision provided me with airfare and accommodations so I can provide Thunderbolt’s faithful readers with a taste of what the show is like and to reveal to you some fresh details on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 before you get your hands on it on November 8, 2011.
I’m not really sure what to expect from the Experience, but it’s certainly different than any of the other industry events that I’ve ever attended. In addition to being able to sit down and take in some of the game’s multiplayer modes, there’s also going to be live music from Dropkick Murphys and Kanye West. There’s a level of Modern Warfare 2 that has been recreated for paintball and I understand that a zipline is available as well (I assume this is why I signed a liability waver). There’s going to be a live tournament of Call of Duty: Black Ops with some significant cash on the line and there should be plenty of opportunities for interviews as well.
Check back with Thunderbolt over the coming days and see what I come up with. I’m going to be spending a lot of time playing the game’s multiplayer modes over the next few days, which should be interesting since I’ve always respected the series’ multiplayer without necessarily appreciating it personally. I’m hoping that talking with the diehard fans that I’ll encounter at the event will give me a greater appreciation of the unique action that Call of Duty brings to the table. Stay tuned.
