Sony officially announces The Agency

Last week we reported that Sony had confirmed that they were working on a massively multiplayer online spy game for the PlayStation 3. Well today they’ve officially announced The Agency, which will also appear on PC. Being developed at Sony’s Seattle studio, the game will see players assume the role of elite agents in a modern-day world. Both solo players and groups will be able to play cooperative and competitive story-driven missions set in several exotic locations around the world.

Hal Milton, Lead Designer for Sony Online Entertainment explained:

“The inspiration for The Agency came from the spy and espionage genre. We want to put players in the heart of the action to experience what it’s really like to live the life of an elite agent. Players will jet set around this virtual world to exotic locales, infiltrate enemy organizations to steal secrets and perpetrate sabotage, all the while building their own agency with an eye towards global domination.”

There’s a ton of extra information on The Agency over at Sony’s website, so go and check it out if you’re interested.
