Microsoft and EA to bid for Sega?

Microsoft

Despite the plans for Sega to merge with the Sammy Corporation, it appears that Sega insiders are uncomfortable with the deal to bring the computer game and pinball companies together. Enter two of the richest companies in gaming, Electronic Arts and Microsoft.

If Microsoft were to acquisition Sega, the advantage to them is clear; it would bring loads of quality games to the Xbox and only the Xbox. This is actually a downside for Sega, who would be forced to can all the GameCube and PS2 software that they currently have in production. Seemingly handing the advantage to EA, who are currently making money hand over fist by having a number of their titles stuck in the top ten of the sales charts.

As with all talk of buy-outs in the gaming world, this is currently only rumours, so check back for any updates.
