Island Thunder heads to Xbox

Ubi Soft have announced today that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Island Thunder will be released on Xbox this Autumn.

They say it will be “the first-ever campaign disc for the Xbox” but it “will not require players to have a retail copy of the original game to enjoy the new Ghost campaign.” Confusing, isn’t it?

So it’s an add-on which doesn’t require the original game to play it. Sounds like more of a sequel then.

There will be special downloads on Xbox Live for owners of Island Thunder, and as it has maps from the original game you will be able to download challenges for that as well.Island Thunder has 12 multiplayer maps for Xbox Live play, including four maps from the original Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon so new players can experience the battlefields of Eastern Europe against others.

The new disc features the eight single-player Cuban campaigns from the PC version of Ghost Recon: Island Thunder and popular maps from Ghost Recon: Desert Siege, a PC add-on disc.

We’ll bring you more information and screenshots as soon as we get them.
