Guitar Hero is a billion-dollar franchise

Activision quite happily announced today that in 26 months, the Guitar Hero franchise has racked up more than $1 billion USD in sales in North America, which, as it turns out, is an industry record. Just to put that into perspective, the video game industry is currently valued at about 18 billion dollars annually, meaning that the Guitar Hero is responsible for a major chunk of that. Nothing else really to report, but the figure is impressive none-the-less and with a cash cow like this, we can rest assured that we’ll see this franchise run into the ground in the next few years.
