FlatOut goes gold in the US

Empire Interactive, a U.K. computer games developer and publisher, today announced that FlatOut has finally gone gold in The States. The over-the-top racing game has been out for more than six months in the UK and is just finally seeing a release this mid-July on the PS2, Xbox and PC.

FlatOut features a unique gimmick that sets it apart from other racing games. When a car crashes, the driver is thrown out the window in full rag doll physics glory. This feature will be utilized extensively during the “Rag Doll Olympics” bonus games. Of course, there’s some actual racing spanning 36 tracks, fully destructible environments and online play on the Xbox and PS2.

FlatOut received decent reviews in the UK, but let’s hope the lengthy wait for an American release proves to be worth it.
