Fallout 3 to be published by Bethesda

The masters behind the incredible Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind have just announced that they will publish the hotly-anticipated Fallout 3. Bethesda has rights to the Fallout franchise on the PC, home consoles, handhelds, and other forms of media.

For those of you out of the loop, the original Fallout came out in 1997 on the PC to much praise. The post-apocalyptic tale of survival was one of the most open-ended RPGs of all time. The was an excellent sequel and a spin-off, but lately the good name of the series has been tarnished by an awful PS2 version and the sad closure of the developerís studio.

Fortunately, things seem to be looking better for the once revered series. Todd Howard, executive producer of Morrowind, is in charge of both Fallout 3 and the next Elder Scrolls game.

ìWe are overjoyed,î said Howard. ìFallout is one of my favorite games, and we plan to develop a visually stunning and original game for Fallout 3 with all the hallmarks of a great RPG: player choice, engaging story, and non-linearity.î
