C&C Generals angers the Chinese

China is up in arms about the latest edition of the Command & Conquer series, C&C: Generals because it portrays the country in a bad light. The game, set in 2020, features a group of terrorists setting up a base in China, buying arms and forming the Global People’s Liberation Army.

The story then involves the terrorists firing missiles at Beijing, and part of the game can include the player destroying Tiananmen Square. Complaints have been piling in to the Sing Tao Daily newspaper, calling the game ‘a disgrace.’ Although how anyone came across a copy since the game hasn’t even been released there yet is anyone’s guess…
